Saturday was the big day for the mice & gecko. Husb worked some over-time in the morning then we headed to the pet shop to collect our 4 female mice & the gecko. We had chosen & reserved them a while ago and on Saturday morning Smurf & Tigergirl both woke-up to find large boxes in their room. We have always had the tradition of Christmas presents being in the lounge and us all going in together (just like when I was a kid)... so to find a huge & totally unexpected pressie in their room caused some serious excitement. Husb is working Christmas Eve & we are also visiting friends & going to Church so Saturday (although a few days early) was the best day. They were certainly surprised!
It took a while to assemble the mouse home.
It's always been my job to do the assembling of stuff at Christmas (and battery provider).
Here's the pic of the mouse habitat all ready to receive it's new inhabitants...
The gecko vivarium had to have it's thermostat & heat lamp all set up too so it would be nice & warm for the gecko when we brought him home. The bulb is red & turns on/off all day & night to keep the viv just right. Tiger girl has been reading about & learning about geckos & their needs for months now & is quite an expert.
Once all was ready we collected the new pets and gently released them into their new homes.
Smurf has named the habitat 'Deep Space Nine' and the mice 'Jadzia Dax, Major Kira, Esri Dax & Zial' (!) after the leading female characters on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. The mice are all different in colour/markings & so cute!
Tigergirl named the gecko 'Garrik' also from Deep Space Nine. The DS9 character in question is a Cardassian & looks quite reptilian. Our Garrick is extremely shy & timid so no photos yet... once I get my new camera I hope to take a good picture or two.
Sunday was our 17th Wedding anniversary and Husb arranged a surprise day out in London for us all. I will post pics another time as I have a pile of things to do today.
