Roman is going to Uni in September and decided to spend some time traveling over the Summer. He waited to celebrate Smurf's Birthday weekend then set off and will be back in 6 weeks. Here he is minutes before setting off with Husb and I to a farewell party, where we left him to be driven to Heathrow by the other boy's parent...
He wanted to wear trainers for the flights and has proper walking boots and walking sandals in his backpack. There were goodbye hugs for his brothers and sister...
Earlier he had gutted cleaned out his room and brought all his travel stuff down to the Craft room to make a final check and pack up...
The farewell party was hosted by my friend, the other boy's Mum. She'd made chili and pizza and there were yummy desserts. They were leaving after Midnight that same evening. We will be picking up from Heathrow in September. Before we left I snapped a couple of photos the three travelling friends... love their happy excitement...
Roman is the youngest of the group and the other boy has travelled before. Such a brilliant opportunity for him. I love to travel and am excited for him and all the new experiences he'll have, including a week of diving. They will have arrived by now in Bangkok and plan to travel around Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. I was thinking about him all day yesterday, then in the evening I got an e-mail from him from Doha Airport where they had an overnight wait to fly to Bangkok. This is what it said...

What an adventure for him. Look forward to the photos when he sends them! Other children will miss him, not to mention his ma & pa. Love xxx

Yup the three of them look SO excited. How lovely that he's e-mailed already (much better for us poor Mums waiting back at home) and I'm impressed with all that packing and preparation. I'm sure he'll have a lovely time which will fly by.
My son is now travelling up through Vietnam, having visited India and Cambodia (via Bangkok), but much prefers Vietnam as it is less touristy he says.

It must be sooooo hard as a mom to let them go! I did it to my mom so often, I don't know how I will be able to do it when mine darlings get that age. Great to see you blogging again. I am hoping to do some of Shimelle's weekend crop as it is a great way to spend your spare time on a birthday weekend :-)
Planning on restarting explore on Monday. I am only up to the start of the colour week! (wonder how many, if ANY, of the challenges I will get done this weekend???)
