How to Make T-shirt Yarn..... Step-by-Step

If you have an old, washed-out T-shirt you no longer want to wear, you could make it into yarn!   This is a step by step process, which upcycles something no longer wanted into something usable.    I'll show you how :0    I have crocheted a potholder and a handbag from several upcycled T-shirts and it is very satisfying.  Scroll to the end for a downloadable pdf version, in colour or printer-friendly black and white.  It's worth mentioning that not all T-shirts are the same.... side seams don't make for pretty yarn but is still ok... I prefer T-shirts without side seams ('Fruit of the loom' brand is a good source for them)... also 100% cotton is nice too if you can get it.  Just sayin'

Hooked on Crochet, a series of 20 Crochet Posts...

 

What is 'Hooked on Crochet' ?? 

Well, it's a Crochet series of 20 blog posts, where I shared something crochet related on each post.... maybe a swatch of a new stitch, maybe a new pattern, maybe a scrumble (freeform crochet patch) and some chit-chat about my love of 'Freeform Crochet'.  I also shared some 'happy mail' and the odd site I thought was brill.  There's an anecdote about my Grandma and Great Auntie (sad story but true) and a video I made about 'Bullion Stitch' where I explained how I modified a crochet hook to help make this stitch more fun and easier too.  Sometimes I chat about a crocheter that inspires me.  Hope 'Hooked on Crochet' inspires you too (it was a fun series to do!)

(P.S. I have had a few techie problems with the blog but hope that's sorted now and I can get back to more regular posts 'cos there's some exciting stuff happening round here!)
